There are some people who come into your life for just a bit and others you can’t even remember the start of your friendship it was that long ago. Kathryn is one of those people. I do remember the day she came into my life, well I’ve been told – I was 366 days old when she was born and we were destined to be friends.
I’m not sure that I’ll ever be able to fully express how grateful I am to have Kathryn in my life or be able to explain everything she has done for me. I will tell you just how grateful I am for her and her wonderful husband this past weekend.
First of all, Kathryn and Joseph have been married just over a year and at their wedding B and I had just told our parents we were expecting that week. And I had the hardest time not telling Kathryn and waiting until they got back from their honeymoon to tell her!! Let me tell you that was one of the hardest secrets EVER!!
Yesterday we celebrated my parent’s 35th wedding anniversary. My sister and I planned a big open house and a private dinner afterwards. Definitely not a place to have a 9 month old. Now back in June when we started planning this event I asked K and J if they would watch Gray for us so we could be baby free. Big step for me since the only people to watch G have been family, other than daycare (not that K isn’t family – she really is, but not blood). So on top of planning and prepping for this party I was also planning and prepping for Gray to be away for a day. It’s different then daycare, mainly because it was all day. Gray went to nursery at church in the morning, and then was off for his day with Auntie K and Uncle J, bath time and bedtime included. I had emailed K Gray’s care guide and a youtube video of how to set up his play pen, and we had gone through everything.
So between first and second service at church, after G had a clean bum and full tummy, we handed him to Kathryn and headed out to do the last minute errands we needed to get done, and even though I many have sent her a few messages on BBM, I was not worried at all about Gray.
They had a great day, and when we arrived to pick him up he was sound asleep in his play pen in their spare room.
I’m so thankful to have friends who are more than excited to look after a baby for a day, but more than that, I’m thankful that I have such great friends who would do it a million times for us without question asked.
Kathryn has been there for me in so many ways, and I know with some of the situations we’re facing in the future she’ll be there beside me again.
Kathryn, Thanks for being such a great friend. I hope that one day I can repay you all the love and support you’ve shown me.
I love you!
